You awaken from your sleep, head dazed from the time spent in cryogenic travel. As you step foot onto the metalic gound, you feel a shutter as the lights in your pod room go out and turn red. You feel the weightlessness of no gravity as the ship falls and your feet slowly lose traction and pick off the floor. Panic courses through your body as one last thing that flashes through your mind, the figure of a woman with long white hair in an everlasting sea of red sand with a sky to fit, her back facing you. She starts turning around as a ship freefalls to the ground in the distance, a plume of black streaks across the sky. Your senses fade when the ship impacts the ground, the last thing you see is the woman, highlighted by the swirl of black and red dust.
You awaken from your sleep, head dazed from what you suppose is a impact to the floor. As you step back onto your feet, you realize you are in a restroom, looking slightly worse for wear. Faint thoughts and muscular pulses sensing the danger of something fade fast in your mind. You look in the cracked mirror above the sink and think of how you got here. Looking at the logo branded on the door reminds you of where you are, That's right... You were tasked to run a safety inspection of this place, S-23, as they just open a new mining sector where both Gestalts and Replikas are working together. As you walk to the door, it slides open revealing... yourself? Before you are given time to think, the 'you' in front of you lunges, pinning you to the ground and attempting to rip you limb from limb. 'You' are successful in 'your' task, but to your suprise, no blood, no bone, just wire and a strange black fluid fall from your limb. As you fade to black, you recall a memory, a woman with long white hair in a stretch of red sand, her mouth is moving but nothing is coming out, no matter how hard you try and remember. You become scrap before you realize what she is saying.
You awaken from your sleep, head dazed from your mind and body fighting between sucumbing to the pain and perceverance. This place... a nearly endless expanse of red. Your eyes catch a glimpse of a ship lodged in the sand littered with multiple 'you's who were unable to do the task at hand. A memory that does not even seem like your own runs through your mind. A white haired woman, looking worse for wear, in a similar location to you at this moment, speaks to you stating one thing.
"A classic survival horror experience with a unique aesthetic, full of melancholic mystery. Explore a world with a dark secret, solve puzzles, fight off nightmarish creatures and navigate through dystopian, surreal worlds as Elster, a technician Replika looking for a lost dream" - Rose Engine, Creators of S I G N A L I S
S I G N A L I S is a isometric (birds's eye view) si-fi horror game going over the story of a robot with a human cloned mind called a Replika, specifically the LSTR or Elster variant. Sent to a mining facility where Gestalts, the current human goverment, and Replikas work together. After landing, Elster starts experiencing memories not of her own, a love faintly remembered, horrors becoming reality, dimentional impossibilities, and a promise needing to be remembered.
The gameplay mirrors similar games to the original resident evil games, including puzzles, resource management, and enemies that won't take no for an answer, no matter how many rounds of ammunition you put into them. The game includes 3 endings, all of them cannon, with a secret 4th ending.
Due to a disease aboard the mining colony, no living Gestalts are able to help at the moment. Which replika are you in need of their assistance?
- What do you mean the disease is also affecting the replikas? They are robots?! Corrupting them? This is bad... -
| ADLR (Adler) | |
Administration, Data Processing, Logistics Replika 'Eagle' or Adler are facility administrators, usually searving as a underling for Falke units. Also being the only male modeled Replika. One Adler can supplement the work of multiple, if not dozens with it's calculated and administrative prowess! - It seems that the one unit down there is still uncorrupted, i guess that's it's calculated nature coming into play. - |
|---|---|---|
| ARAR (Ara) | |
All Purpose Repair Worker Replika 'Makaw' or Ara are general use industrial workers, used in a wide range of trade school jobs. - I hate how they always know their way around places, even using the vents to get to secure areas. - |
| EULR (Eule) | |
Simple universal Light Replika 'Owl' or Eule are general purpose Replikas, ranging from cooks, nurses, teaching, and office work. - A couple Eules are still uncorrupted, but since their frames aren't built for fighting, however bad it is to say, i am glad that they got corrupted. - |
| FKLR (Falke) | |
Führungskommando-Leiteinheit Replikas or Falkes are commading officers or security cheifs of the Protektor security forces. Some people even say that they are able to "bend the will of weaker minds" just by their presence. - I don't know who or what to thank that there are none of these roaming around S-23. - |
| KLBR (Kolibri) | |
Commando Control Unit Bioresonance Technology Replika 'Hummingbird' or Kolibri are political officer Replikas. Utilizing their built in bioresonator to |
| LSTR (Elster) | |
Land Survey/Ship Technician Replika 'Magpie' or Elster are assistants in Orbital or Recon missions. Usually deployed solo or with a singular operator. - Why does it say there are hundreds of them here? My scanner has to be broken. - |
| MNHR (Mynah) | |
Mining, Nuclear Tech, High-Security Replika 'Mynah' or Mynah is a hazardous enviorment heavy worker. Usually equipped with a heavy duty mining laser that will make short work of any material in it's way - I pity anything that gets in the way of a corrupted variant of this one. - |
| STAR (Star) | |
Security Technician Guard Replika 'Starling' or Star is a Riot Control Replika. Equipped with a baton and a riot shield to supress and maintain order in times of chaos. - All variants of this Replika are corrupted or out of order. Those shields are way more annoying when they use them. - |
| STCR (Storch) | |
Security Technician Controller Replika, or Storch for short are Overseer Replikas. Deployed to oversee and cordinate lower ranking Replikas while also fashioned with elongated legs, making them almost 8 Feet tall! - Only one at this current time is uncorrupted, attempting to assist Elster in her journey. - |
This section includes some extra tidbits about the game that don't fit really well in any place above.
The game goes through major story beats of "The King In Yellow", even having it play into unlocking the secret ending by not following along with the book.
The painting used as a prized artwork of the Gestalt empire and in certian cutscenes applied over Elster, is the 5 variants of the painting "Isle Of The Dead" by Arnold Bocklin, having the meaning behind the painting reflect certian aspects of the game.
The Replika's human names are all references to types of birds in different languages. Adler = "Eagle" in German, Eule = "Owl" In German, Mynah = A Songbird in Southeast Asia.
A mechanic in the game of only holding 6 items has an actual reasoning behind it beside a gameplay mechanic. The Gestalt Empire has a international law of keeping only 6 items posessed on a person at a time, sometimes even correlating to 6 prized posessions for children.
